Dravida Dasa joined ISKCON in March of 1973 in New York and was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in January of 1974. He began his editing career in 1975 when he became one of the editors for Back to Godhead magazine and also participated in a seventeen-books-in-two-months marathon in that year, ending with a finished production of Srila Prabhupada’s translation of and commentary on the Bengali classic, Sri Caitanya-caritamrta. In October of 1978 he went to work as an editor for the Bhaktivedanta Institute, but in October of 1979 it was back to Back to Godhead. In 1983 he joined Hridayananda Dasa Goswami, Gopiparanadhana Prabhu, and others in producing the 10th, 11th, and 12th cantos of Srimad-Bhagavatam. In 1989 he moved to San Diego, where he still resides. There he has continued his work with the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, helping to produce such books as The Journey of Discovery, The Quest for Enlightenment, A Second Chance, and Srila Prabhupada’s yearly Vyasa-puja book. In addition, he has helped produce final versions of the Caitanya-caritamrta, the Isopanisad, the Krsna book, and Teachings of Lord Caitanya. It was in 1990 that he recorded the entire Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
